This hurricane season has been predicted to produce as many as 15 tropical storms, with the possibility of 6 to 9 hurricanes. These storms not only pack the threat of hurricane-force winds, but can also produce disasters such as tornadoes and storm surges.

Did you know that the Tampa Bay Area is the second most dangerous for storm surge behind New Orleans? With the possibility of all these hazards, disaster planning and preparedness are imperative to protect lives and minimize damage. Some of the ways you can prepare include:

  • Create a Family Emergency Plan
  • Know your Evacuation Routes
  • Have Supply Kits Ready: First Aid, Medications, Nonperishable Food, Water, Tools
  • Visit the Hurricane Guide

Bay Area Disaster Kleenup has taken it’s own steps in preparedness to ensure we can provide the community with the best possible service in the event of a hurricane. This includes ongoing contact with DKI affiliates to have resources readily available in the event of a hurricane. Also, we have 2 employees that have recently completed the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, which is a FEMA sponsored, volunteer-based group that provides immediate help to victims until professional services arrive.
